Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini

Starcrossed (Starcrossed, #1)Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was gripped by this story right away with Helen's own internal confusion. This story is an interesting and highly original, modern take on Greek mythology. Angelini creates colorful and well developed characters that you love, even when you hate them! The plot is full of exciting twists and turns that make speculating as to what will happen next difficult and awesome!
Helen knows that she is a freak, she just has no idea how freaky she is going to get! When Helen starts seeing three disfigured women crying tears of blood and encouraging her to kill the new students in her school, she can't ignore them. She attacks a boy who is quite possibly the hottest guy on the planet. This confuses Helen because she can't reason why she hates him and his family so much, compounded with the scarey ladies and Helen is going nuts! I didn't even mention the fact that Helen seems to be sleepwalking because in her dreams she travels a barren land which is strange enough, but when she wakes up her feet are dirty and bleeding and she feels exhausted.
This is a love story of a sort. I say this because it is beyond complicated.I don't want to give away any of the story because this book should be read by everyone!
Starcrossed is one of the best books I've read in terms of entertainment factor. Please pick this one up and give it a chance because I would love to gush and speculate with you! Keep up the pure genius Angelini!
