Partials by Dan Wells

Partials (Partials, #1)Partials by Dan Wells

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So, I normally shy away from male authors in the Y/A genre, but this book proves that even the men can gain a toehold in the ever expanding world of Y/A fiction. This book is the epitome of science fiction, emphasis on the science. While the book doesn't get technical in the scientific portions of the story, it has enough description to develop a plausible storyline. This book was exciting and fun, and I just loved it!
Kira is a young woman growing up in the world after the near extinction of humanity by a war with the Partials. Partials are biologically engineered super-'humans' created to fight and reduce human war casualties. People are slowly dying out because a deadly virus kills every baby born. This story features a tyrannical government filled with conspiracies trying to maintain a tenuous hold on a dwindling population. Kira is a selfless heroine willing to risk her life by consorting with Partials to develop a cure for the deadly virus RM.

Nothing is as it seems in this thrilling new novel by Dan Wells. I highly recommend this novel!
