The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1)The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Julie Kagawa has done it again! I swear, this woman has blown me away with her creativity. Kagawa tackles the giant hurdle of Vampires; seriously, they are so overdone it's damn near impossible to find a good vampire book these days! This particular book follows Allison Sekemoto, or Allie as her friends call her, throughout her life, and afterlife.
Allie is an unregistered citizen in a city run by vampires. She has mastered the skill of flying under the radar and scavenging food when there is none. She and her gang of allies are starving and it just keeps getting worse as her city is on the verge of a lock down. Allie risks all and ventures beyond the wall that protects the people of the city from the rabids (the weakest of all the vampires that are just mindless animals hungry for blood) in search of food. On the run from a rabid deer Allie inadvertently stumbles onto the motherload of food stores! It's a storm shelter fully stocked with canned goods and water and everything Allie and her friends could every want!
Everything goes wrong and Allie finds herself waking up dead! Her vampire father teaches Allie how to survive as a vampire, but disaster is never far from her door and she finds herself out of the city and on her own. She is fighting to find herself and balance her human conscience with her vampire nature.
Following Allie on her many adventures and seeing her become a new woman was so fun and totally exciting. This is hands down one of my favorite vampire books of all time! Woot, Julie Kagawa!
